Driver accused of hitting Dallas officer who was blocking traffic lane

Police have taken a driver into custody following an incident where the individual allegedly rear-ended a Dallas officer’s squad car, which was blocking a lane of traffic on Friday night.

The Dallas Police Department responded to reports of a car crash in the 7000 block of Julius Schepps Freeway NB around 11:50 p.m.

According to authorities, an officer had positioned their squad car to block a traffic lane when another vehicle collided with the police cruiser from behind.

As a precaution, the officer was transported to a local hospital, although details regarding their condition have not been disclosed.

The driver suspected of striking the officer’s vehicle has been apprehended by the police.
