Texas ranks among the most dangerous states to drive on St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the United States, but unfortunately, it also ranks as one of the deadliest holidays for motorists due to increased car accidents.

A recent map, based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and its Fatality and Injury Reporting System (FIRST), highlights the most perilous states for driving on St. Paddy’s Day.

The map displays a five-year average of St. Patrick’s Day driving fatalities in each state, relative to the total number of registered drivers.

Remarkably, there appears to be a concentration of high-risk states around Texas, with Kentucky standing out as the most dangerous state overall.

The top 10 most dangerous states to drive on St. Paddy’s Day, based on fatalities per million registered drivers, include Kentucky, Oklahoma, Vermont, Louisiana, Kansas, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Missouri, and South Carolina.

For perspective, a populous state like Texas boasts over 18 million registered drivers, according to analysts.

The map, compiled by Diono, creators of travel and auto-related graphics, reveals that despite grand celebrations, the Northeast remains one of the safest regions, with Vermont being an exception.

Ensuring road safety is paramount, especially during festive occasions like St. Patrick’s Day. It’s crucial to plan ahead and designate a sober driver or utilize public transportation if alcohol consumption is part of the celebration.

Remember to celebrate responsibly and prioritize safety on the roads.
