Thousands line Greenville Avenue for Dallas Mavs’ St. Patrick’s parade

Despite the weather conditions, the 2024 Dallas Mavs St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival proceeded as planned, attracting thousands of attendees on Saturday.

Dallas Stars icon Mike Modano served as the parade’s Honorary Grand Marshal, leading the procession of floats and vehicles from a pickup truck alongside his wife and children.

Bill Richmond, accompanied by his wife, reminisced about their chance encounter at the parade a decade ago, which eventually led to their marriage and family. Reflecting on their journey, Richmond humorously attributed it to “Irish luck,” despite having no Irish heritage himself.

Josie Lozano, a regular attendee, transitioned from spectator to participant this year by driving her low-rider car named La Mariposa, a tradition she cherishes for over 15 years.

Tra Arnold, who grew up attending the parade with his father, now actively participated in roller skating with friends on the Dallas Mavericks float, expressing their passion for the event.

Sadae Hednot’s group celebrated not only the parade tradition but also her aunt’s birthday, enjoying adult beverages while commemorating the occasion.

Meanwhile, young attendees like Mylah and Maren, attending their first parade, eagerly anticipated catching beads and candy, expressing their excitement for St. Patrick’s Day.

Following the festivities, Modano was scheduled to unveil his official statue outside the American Airlines Center. However, due to inclement weather, the event was postponed and rescheduled to take place indoors during the game.

Despite the postponement, the event brought joy and celebration to the community, marking another successful year for the Dallas Mavs St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival.
