‘Please come back home’: Family, Police search for missing man, Lexus SUV last seen in Prosper

An urgent search is currently underway for a Lewisville man and his vehicle, last seen in the Prosper area, as his family grapples with the unfolding tragedy.

Vishaal Makani, aged 25, has been missing since March 2, as reported by his family, who are deeply concerned due to his mental health struggles and recent purchase of a firearm before leaving his residence in his 2013 Lexus RX.

The search efforts for Makani have extended to Collin County, particularly to rural farmland along East Prosper Trail, where Prosper intersects with McKinney.

Kashish Makani, Vishaal’s sister, along with her husband, flew in from New York to support her parents in their search for her brother. They are appealing for assistance from law enforcement agencies, nearby businesses, apartment complexes, and residents.

Vishaal has long battled depression and social anxiety, which have led to difficulties maintaining employment. Despite his struggles, he had expressed willingness to return to rehabilitation before his disappearance.

Lewisville police confirmed that Vishaal legally purchased a firearm shortly before leaving home. However, Texas law mandates that information on court-ordered mental health hospitalizations be reported to the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which then transmits the records to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. It was noted that Vishaal did not undergo a court-ordered hospitalization.

The family’s search efforts have been bolstered by sightings of Vishaal’s Lexus RX in the Prosper and The Colony area. Surveillance footage from Gateway Church in Prosper captured his SUV on March 2, but access to the video has been restricted, complicating the investigation.

Despite extensive search efforts by authorities and organizations like Texas EquuSearch, no significant leads have emerged. The case is being treated as that of a missing person who may be suicidal.

The family, while enduring the anguish of Vishaal’s disappearance, remains hopeful for his safe return. They emphasize that Vishaal poses no threat to public safety.

Their plea for assistance underscores the challenges faced by families with mentally ill loved ones. They are determined to continue their search and appeal for cooperation from the community and law enforcement agencies.

Anyone with information about Vishaal Makani or his vehicle is urged to contact Lewisville police, who have entered his information into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NaMUS) for broader identification efforts.

In a heartfelt plea, Vishaal’s sister expresses the family’s unwavering love and urges him to return home.
