Driver killed after rear-ending Alief ISD school bus, no students injured, HPD says

In southwest Houston, a tragic accident involving an Alief ISD school bus and another vehicle is under investigation by the Houston Police Department.

The collision occurred around 4:25 p.m. along Highway 59 at Fountainview when a Volkswagen collided with the school bus, according to authorities.

An Alief ISD spokesperson confirmed that the students on the bus were returning from an out-of-city event and reassured that all students are safe, with no reported injuries.

As a result of the accident, southbound lanes of Highway 59 have been closed.

While details about the incident remain limited, the circumstances leading up to the collision are yet to be determined.
