Four people rescued after plunging from malfunctioning gondola lift in North Texas

In a terrifying incident turned fortunate, authorities reported that four individuals were rescued on Saturday afternoon near Eagle Mountain Park after a malfunctioning gondola lift left them stranded at the base of a cliff.

Chief Cruxman of the Briar-Reno Fire Department informed NBC 5 that emergency responders received a distress call around 12:05 p.m. concerning a severe injury incident involving four individuals near the 8300 block of Samora Court in unincorporated Tarrant County.

Upon arrival at the scene, police and firefighters discovered four individuals with severe injuries on the cliffside.

Investigations revealed that the victims were descending from the property to the dock using a trolley when a cable snapped, causing them to plummet from the trolley and land in a rocky and cactus-strewn area.

Firefighters utilized an adjacent property to access the injured victims. One person sustained critical injuries and had to be airlifted to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

The remaining three victims were transported to the same hospital by paramedics, all with serious injuries.

According to Chief Cruxman, the victims fell approximately 25 to 30 feet after the cable broke. The trolley they were utilizing typically accommodates three to four people in basket-style seats.

Due to the life-threatening nature of the injuries sustained in the accident, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation. Subsequently, the sheriff’s office confirmed that all victims are expected to survive.
