7-year-old boy shot in west Houston drive-by shooting is stable after surgery, officials say

Houston police are conducting an investigation following a shooting incident in west Houston on Sunday afternoon, where a 7-year-old bystander was injured.

The incident occurred in the 7700 block of Corporate Drive around 2:55 p.m. and involved a gold or gray sedan and a blue truck with ladders.

Authorities are uncertain about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including who initiated the gunfire. However, they believe the shooter was a Black man with dreadlocks in the sedan.

According to preliminary findings, the suspect fired shots at the blue truck, resulting in at least one bullet striking the 7-year-old boy who was on the sidewalk.

Emergency medical personnel transported the boy to a hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition.

Officials are investigating whether the incident stemmed from road rage or if there was prior acquaintance between the individuals involved.
