Man shot in head; woman trampled after gunfire erupts between 2 people at SE Houston pool party: HPD

Houston police responded to a large pool party in the city’s southside on Saturday evening, where a shooting occurred, leaving two individuals severely injured.

The incident took place at the Gateway on Cullen Apartments around 9:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Houston Police Department.

According to Lt. Riley, the gunfire erupted when two unidentified individuals began shooting at each other, causing panic among party attendees who scattered in different directions.

Authorities have not provided details regarding the motives behind the altercation that led to the gunfire.

During the chaos, one woman fell and was trampled, while a man sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

The injured man was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while the woman received on-site treatment and was subsequently released.
