The Houston community mourns the loss of Ivan Ramirez, a cherished softball coach who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident on Easter Sunday. Ramirez, 42 years old, passed away on Wednesday, as confirmed by his softball team.

Ramirez served as a coach for the Texas Magic Fastpitch Travel softball team and was deeply respected within the community. Beyond his coaching role, he was a devoted husband and father to three children.

The shooting occurred on March 31 outside Ramirez’s residence in an apartment complex near Pearland, along the South Beltway. Upon receiving an alert on his phone indicating activity around his truck, Ramirez went outside to investigate. It was then that he was confronted by an assailant who opened fire, inflicting multiple gunshot wounds.

Following the incident, Ramirez was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, where he underwent numerous surgeries and remained in critical condition until his passing.

The loss of Ramirez has left a profound impact on those who knew him, and the community grieves the senseless violence that claimed his life.
