Former Houston Astros pitching prospect Ronny Garcia dies at 24, team says

The Houston Astros announced the passing of former pitching prospect Ronny Garcia at the age of 24. Garcia, hailing from Samana, Dominican Republic, had been part of the Astros’ minor league system from 2017 to 2023.

In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Astros expressed deep sadness over Garcia’s death and extended condolences to his family and friends.

After his tenure with the Astros, Garcia signed with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball on February 20, 2024.
