California:
In Los Angeles, students at schools with limited outdoor green spaces are disproportionately affected by extreme heat. Efforts are underway to increase green space on campuses and prioritize environmental justice initiatives.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood, initiatives are transforming toxic areas into community spaces, including parks, farmers’ markets, and affordable housing developments.

New York:
In the Bronx, air pollution from heavy traffic adjacent to an elementary school impacts student health and academic success. Community leaders are advocating for cleaner air and healthier environments for residents, particularly in Black and Hispanic communities.

North Carolina:
In eastern North Carolina, communities like Sanford face significant air quality challenges, disproportionately affecting people of color and low-income residents. Concerned citizens are speaking out about the impact on public health and advocating for change.
