Ella Crossing neighbors say 2 Rottweilers have them under siege after man bitten on leg

In a northwest Harris County subdivision, residents are expressing concerns about two dogs they claim pose a safety risk.

According to residents of Larks Trace Lane in the Ella Crossing neighborhood, one woman had to fend off the so-called aggressive dogs with a broom, while another man reported being bitten in the back of the leg during an evening encounter.

These incidents have raised worries among neighbors, particularly regarding the safety of children if the dogs continue to escape and pose a threat to people.

Reshaunda Jackson, who confronted the dogs with a broom, described a harrowing experience lasting 15 minutes until the dog owners intervened. She emphasized her desire to feel safe in her own yard, especially given her young granddaughter.

Hiriam Mendoza recounted being bitten by one of the Rottweilers in early February, leading to a hospital visit. He filed a police report and contacted animal control.

Harris County Animal Control confirmed receiving reports about the dogs and stated that the animals were quarantined after a biting incident in February. Following protocol, the dogs were released to their owners after the quarantine period. Animal control officers are now investigating new reports of the dogs roaming loose.

Residents expressed their fear of the situation, with some resorting to carrying handguns when walking their own dogs to protect themselves. However, some neighbors feel that their homeowners’ association, Spectrum Association Management, has not adequately addressed the issue.

In response, the homeowners’ association advised residents to contact animal control or law enforcement for immediate assistance with such matters.

Residents are calling on the dog owners to take measures to prevent future incidents. The owners stated off-camera that they are taking steps to address the situation, including providing a kennel for the dogs.
