Family of 19-year-old killed at after-prom party pleads for witnesses to come forward

Fort Worth police are continuing their investigation into a shooting incident that occurred during an ‘after-prom’ house party, resulting in three individuals sustaining gunshot wounds, one of whom tragically succumbed to his injuries.

As of Monday evening, authorities have not disclosed any arrests related to the case or provided information regarding the identity of the suspect or suspects involved. According to police sources, party attendees have been uncooperative with the investigation.

The victim who tragically lost his life has been identified as 19-year-old Daniel Olalde Moreno of Fort Worth. His grieving family shared their heartbreaking story with NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 at their residence on Monday morning.

The Olalde family is devastated by the loss of Daniel, describing him as a loving and well-groomed individual who adored his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Despite occasional moments of mischief, his unwavering love for his family remained unquestionable.

Daniel’s parents, Vidal and Luisa, recall seeing their son off that rainy Saturday evening, unaware of his plans to attend a party later that night. His sudden passing left a void in their lives that cannot be filled.

The tragic events unfolded early Sunday morning when Daniel and two others were admitted to local hospitals with gunshot wounds. Despite the medical team’s efforts, Daniel’s injuries proved fatal.

The party, hosted at a residence on Singleleaf Lane, was reportedly attended by approximately 300 youths, many of whom were uninvited, according to the homeowner. The festivities turned violent, possibly escalating from a dispute over a game of dice.

The Olalde family rejects any insinuations blaming Daniel and his friends for being unruly party crashers, emphasizing that the party was widely publicized on social media and that Daniel was invited via text and online platforms.

The Fort Worth Police Gun Violence Unit has taken charge of the investigation, and Daniel’s family implores anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice for their beloved son.

As the investigation continues, the Olalde family remains steadfast in their pursuit of peace and justice for Daniel, urging the community to support them in their quest for closure.
