Man arrested in connection to Dallas party shooting where woman was killed, 8 others shot

On Saturday, Dallas Police arrested Christopher Jones, 28, in connection with a shooting at a party on Collins Avenue in Dallas. The incident resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman and left eight others injured.

According to an arrest report, Jones faces charges of Deadly Conduct and possession of Methamphetamine.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Jones discharged a firearm into the air during the shooting, as per the Dallas Police report.

The shooting transpired on April 13, following earlier reports of gunfire on Collins Avenue.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia announced the initiation of an internal investigation to assess whether officers could have handled the situation differently, given the shooting’s aftermath, which resulted in eight individuals sustaining injuries and one fatality.

Initial police response occurred around 11:10 p.m. after reports of gunfire at a party in the 4500 block of Collins Avenue.

According to spokesperson Kristin Lowman, a preliminary investigation indicated that a large gathering had spilled into the street, with gunfire subsiding upon police arrival.

However, police in the vicinity later heard additional shots at approximately 1:35 a.m.

The gunfire struck seven women and two men, all of whom were transported to local hospitals by Dallas Fire-Rescue and private vehicles.

Coriesha Bradford, aged 21, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, while the other eight adults sustained injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
