Houston Texans chairman, head coach offer positive update on WR after shooting: ‘Tank will be fine’

When questioned about the recovery of Houston Texans receiver Tank Dell, Hannah McNair’s relief was palpable.

As the vice president of the Texans Foundation, McNair took a deep breath before addressing the topic, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation. The recent close call, where Dell was caught in the crossfire of a shooting at a Florida event, still weighs heavily on everyone within the Texans organization.

At the Texans Charity Golf Classic, team chairman and CEO Cal McNair provided a positive update on Dell’s condition. He revealed that he had recently spoken with Dell, refraining from divulging specific details of their conversation but expressing optimism about Dell’s recovery.

“We’re just grateful,” said Cal McNair, noting that while Dell sustained a “minor wound,” he is expected to make a full recovery. Despite the ordeal, Dell appeared to be in good spirits during a recent visit to the Texans office.

The incident occurred during a private event in Sanford, Florida, where two men engaged in gunfire. Dell, caught in the middle, suffered injuries alongside nine others. However, all are anticipated to recover fully.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans also provided reassurance, stating that he had spoken with Dell multiple times and is confident in Dell’s ability to bounce back from the incident.
