Spring home that was site of deadly fire had no smoke detectors, officials say

A woman died early Friday in a house fire in Lexington Woods subdivision in Spring, according to the Spring Fire Department.

Deputies from the Harris County Constable’s Office first responded to a burglary alarm at the home around 3 a.m. in the 25500 block of Friar Lake Lane. Deputies entered the home but were driven back by the smoke and fire conditions, authorities said.

Spring firefighters then arrived on the scene and saw smoke and fire coming from the back of the home. They found the woman, who died before they arrived, near the back door.
