Showers, scattered thunderstorms may hit the Houston area Saturday

The Houston area could see showers and scattered thunderstorms Saturday amid temperatures in the low 90’s, according to the National Weather Service.

Storms are more likely to hit the coast and east Texas, where showers are expected to begin before moving inland, the weather service said. The storms could flood streets and low-lying areas, bring winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour and cause bayous to rise while staying within their banks.Areas may experience 1 to 3 inches of rain where the strongest storms hit, while other areas are likely to see 0.25 to 1 inch of rain, the weather service said.
