Innocent woman killed in shooting involving security guards

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police were investigating a shooting that left an innocent woman dead and at least two other people hurt in southeast Houston.

Officers said some customers had left a bar on Fuqua near the Gulf Freeway at about 2:20 a.m.

That’s when a black pickup truck was seen doing donuts in the parking lot, driving recklessly and hitting at least five vehicles, police said.

Security guards got into an exchange of gunfire with the driver when a stray bullet hit the innocent woman.

Police told they were looking into who fired that shot.

“It’s very difficult for us to tell at this time. All we know is we have multiple rounds of casings that are in the parking lot,” Commander Caroleta Johnson said. “We believe there was an exchange, but we can’t confirm that. We do know that shots were fired, some by security personnel and there may have been another person here that fired back. We don’t know in which direction they were firing and who the intended target was.”

The driver of the pickup truck and a security guard have been detained.

received video of that driver on the ground as he was taken into custody.

Police said they don’t know the security guard’s role in the incident at this time.

Two people were injured in the crashes involving that truck. One of those victims was outside of their vehicle.
