A few spotty showers early, storms pop this afternoon for some

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A disturbance moving through Saturday afternoon will spark scattered thunderstorms. An isolated strong or severe storm can’t be ruled out.

Then the weather turns dry and really hot as we progress through next week.

Are there any other chances for severe weather this weekend?
There is a low chance for a severe storm Saturday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat if it happens.

How hot will it get next week?
Hot enough to challenge records by Wednesday. Temps will soar to the middle and upper 90s next week. And the humidity will be high so a Heat Advisory at some point is a possibility.

Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?

Potential Storm One is on the verge of becoming Tropical Storm Alex. Its moisture is moving toward Florida and some flooding is likely to occur as 4-8″ and possibly as much as 12″ of rain falls. Winds could gust to more than 40 mph as well. You can learn more about it in our daily tropical update.
