Houston boxer O’Shaquie Foster, the WBC Super Featherweight titlist, is set to headline a boxing event at MSG

Houston’s own professional boxer, O’Shaquie Foster, is gearing up to defend his WBC super featherweight title against challenger Abraham Nova at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, February 16th.

The 30-year-old champion, hailing from Orange, Texas, and training in Houston, is readying himself for his second defense of the WBC strap, headlining a major event at one of boxing’s most renowned venues in the United States. Foster, also known as “Ice Water” and “Shock,” brings significant experience to the ring, excelling in the sweet science of boxing.

With a professional record of 21-2, including 12 knockouts, Foster joins the ranks of Houston’s current boxing champions alongside natives Jermell Charlo, the WBA junior middleweight champion, and Jermall Charlo, the WBC middleweight titlist.

Having signed a multi-year contract with Top Rank Boxing in November 2023, Foster is now under the wing of legendary promoter Bob Arum, whose roster of fighters includes icons like Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao. Foster clinched his first world title with a unanimous decision victory over then-WBC super featherweight champion Rey Vargas on February 11, 2023, at the Alamodome in San Antonio. His recent victory, a sensational 12th round TKO against challenger Eduardo Hernandez on October 28, 2023, further solidified his prowess in the ring.

Looking ahead, Foster sets his sights on unifying the junior lightweight division, aiming for marquee matchups in the future.

As the date approaches, Foster is determined to shine in the ring, captivating audiences in “the city that never sleeps.”

The highly anticipated bout will be broadcast on ESPN, starting at 8 p.m. CST on Friday.
