Houston firefighter accused of headbutting police officer during DUI arrest off Tomball Parkway

A Houston firefighter is facing accusations of headbutting a Tomball police officer during a DUI arrest.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Thursday when an officer found an unconscious driver behind the wheel of a running vehicle at a strip center off the Tomball Parkway.

The driver, identified as David Nelson Hitchcock, displayed signs of intoxication and reportedly refused to undergo a sobriety test, leading to his arrest.

While being escorted down the jail hallway, Hitchcock allegedly headbutted a police officer, causing injuries documented in court records.

Hitchcock appeared in court on Friday morning and was released on a $30,000 bond.

Authorities disclosed that Hitchcock has been employed with the Houston Fire Department for a decade, serving as a firefighter and EMT.

Houston Fire Chief Sam Pena condemned the alleged behavior, emphasizing that it does not reflect the department’s values. An internal investigation has been launched, although Hitchcock has not been placed on leave at this time.
