Porta potties in high demand ahead of total eclipse

Sure, you may have the essentials like burgers, steaks, hot dogs, and eclipse sunglasses, but have you considered every necessity for the upcoming eclipse event?

John Banda, owner of Dallas-based North Texas Porta Potties, raised an important question: “You got the burgers. You got the steaks. You got the hot dogs. You got the sunglasses for the eclipse. Now, what are we going to do about restrooms?”

Restrooms became a significant topic at a recent eclipse town hall in Ennis, a city within the path of totality expecting a crowd of up to 200,000 people. Ennis City Manager Marty Nelson highlighted the potential restroom shortage, emphasizing the challenge of accommodating such a large number of people.

To address this concern, the city took proactive measures by reserving 100 porta potties six months in advance, a significantly earlier timeframe than the typical three-week reservation window for events.

According to Banda, the demand for porta-potties for the eclipse event has been unprecedented, with his company receiving numerous inquiries. As a result, they are nearly sold out of available units for the day of the eclipse.

NBC 5 reached out to several porta-potty rental businesses in North Texas, all of which reported being sold out or very close to reaching capacity for the eclipse event.

Banda emphasized the importance of planning ahead and booking porta-potties early, as being stuck in line for a restroom during the eclipse would be an unfortunate inconvenience, potentially overshadowing the excitement of the event itself.
