25-year-old mom and 5-year-old girl die after being ejected in E. Harris Co. crash, HCSO says

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a serious accident that resulted in the tragic deaths of a mother and her child after they were ejected from their vehicle in east Harris County on Sunday.

Deputies responded to the single-vehicle crash around 1:45 p.m. in the 13000 block of US-90. According to authorities, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times, scattering debris and personal belongings along the roadway.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez provided an update, identifying the deceased as Tiffany Rodríguez (25) and her daughter, Ariella, who was initially reported to be 6 years old but was later clarified to be 5. The family of five included a 26-year-old father, a 2-year-old boy, and a 2-month-old baby girl. The father and his two surviving children sustained critical injuries but are expected to recover.

Authorities noted that neither parent was wearing seatbelts, while all three children were secured in car seats. It remains uncertain if the children were properly restrained.

Tiffany and Ariella were pronounced dead at the hospital. Speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, though investigations are ongoing to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.

This incident marks the 45th fatality in crashes in Harris County since the beginning of the year, a concerning statistic according to Sheriff Gonzalez. He emphasized the preventable nature of such accidents and urged for greater community awareness and caution on the roads.
