Speed may have been a factor in Fort Worth fire truck crash, according to TxDOT report

According to a crash report obtained by NBC 5 from the Texas Department of Transportation, excessive speeds may have led to a Fort Worth Fire Department fire truck overturning in February.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on February 5th when the fire truck rolled over while responding to a house fire call in the 4500 block of Pecos Street. Four firefighters were injured in the accident, with one sustaining critical injuries.

Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis noted that various factors, including nearby construction, road changes, closures, and bridge maintenance, need to be considered during the investigation into the crash.

The Fort Worth Fire Department stated that they would refrain from providing further comments on the incident until the entire investigation is concluded.

Michael Glynn, president of the Fort Worth Firefighters Association Local 440, mentioned in February that the driver of the engine had approximately ten years of driving experience.

Following the crash, two firefighters who were hospitalized have been discharged and are currently recovering at home. The traffic investigation is being handled by the Fort Worth Police, while the fire department is conducting an internal review.
