Celebrate the world’s biggest art car celebration with the 2024 Houston Art Car Parade

This weekend in Houston, get ready for the return of the world’s largest celebration of art cars and innovative vehicles, right in the heart of downtown.

The Houston Art Car Parade, presented by Team Gillman, is a major highlight on the city’s cultural calendar, attracting over 300,000 attendees annually, and you can join in the excitement.

ABC13 provided a live stream capturing all the vibrant sights and sounds from the parade on Saturday, April 13.

Now in its 37th year, the parade showcased a diverse array of entries, with hundreds of art cars and vehicles coming from 23 states, as well as Canada and Mexico.

Each vehicle serves as a moving canvas, meticulously crafted by passionate artists. Past parades have featured cars transformed into everything from animals like dogs and bananas to symbolic figures like the phoenix.

Houston-themed designs are also a common sight, with art cars paying homage to our city’s iconic landmarks and sports teams, including NASA shuttles and cars decked out in the colors of the Astros, Texans, Rockets, Dynamo, and Dash.

Artists employ various materials in their creations, from temporary mediums like paper, tape, and even sugary Peeps, to recycled materials that completely overhaul vehicles into stunning mobile sculptures.
