Shooting in W. 7th District stemmed from argument and fist fight, Fort Worth Police say

Fort Worth Police are still investigating a shooting that occurred in the West 7th Street Entertainment District about a month ago, leaving one man seriously injured.

The incident took place on March 17 around 1:00 a.m. near Bledsoe and Currie Streets.

According to Officer Buddy Calzada, spokesperson for the Fort Worth Police Department, investigators believe that an argument and physical altercation involving five suspects escalated into a deadly confrontation when one individual resorted to using a weapon.

The police are currently searching for the five suspects involved in the altercation, identified as follows:

– Suspect #1 (Shooter): Hispanic male, wearing a black Nike shirt
– Suspect #2 (Fighter): Hispanic female, wearing a black shirt
– Suspect #3 (Fighter): Black male, wearing a yellow shirt
– Suspect #4 (Observer): Hispanic female, wearing a grey Buc-ee’s sweater
– Suspect #5 (Observer): Black or Hispanic male, wearing a grey hoodie or black shirt; female, wearing a black shirt

Additionally, the police are seeking one witness, described as a male wearing a black jacket.

Officer Calzada emphasized the importance of speaking with witnesses to gather vital information and urged anyone with relevant details to come forward, even if they are not directly involved or considered suspects.

Witnesses who have provided video footage have been instrumental in aiding the investigation, enabling the police to share images with the public to garner further assistance.

Calzada reiterated the gravity of resorting to firearms to resolve disputes and urged the community to refrain from such actions.

Individuals with information about the suspects or the incident are encouraged to contact Detective Lopez at 817-372-3781 or provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.

The shooting follows another incident in the entertainment district on Saturday, March 2, which has left residents like McKenzie and Ryan Lamb feeling concerned about safety in the area.

Despite growing up in the W. 7th area, the Lambs have noticed a shift in the atmosphere, particularly at night, prompting them to alter their behavior, such as avoiding eye contact and changing their dog-walking routines.

They believe that increasing the number of restaurants in the area could help mitigate alcohol-related incidents and appreciate the heightened police presence since the shootings occurred.

Ultimately, they hope to see the West 7th district return to its vibrant and safe state, both during the day and at night, preserving its cultural significance and community spirit.
