Swifties take over, launch The Denton Poets Department

On Friday, the city of Denton joined in the excitement surrounding Taylor Swift’s latest album release by adding their own creative twist.

After much anticipation, the renowned singer-songwriter unveiled her newest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” overnight. To the surprise of her fans, Swift announced that the album was a double album anthology, featuring an additional 15 tracks.

Taking inspiration from Swift’s album release, Denton’s city leaders decided to have some fun by introducing “The Denton Poets Department.” They shared carefully crafted photos reminiscent of Swift’s promotional images for her new album.

In the days leading up to the double album’s debut, Swift’s team had been teasing fans with posts on social media, revealing song titles and snippets of lyrics. For example, one post featured the lyrics, “You don’t get to tell me about sad,” from the song “The Bolter.”

In a playful nod to Swift’s marketing strategy, Denton’s Police Department shared a photo with the caption, “When they actually use the pedestrian crosswalk.” Similarly, the city’s fire department posted a message stating, “When they leave their grill unattended by the house.” Even Animal Services joined in on the fun with a post that read, “When they adopt a senior dog.”

The city’s lighthearted posts added a touch of humor to the excitement surrounding Swift’s album release.
