Here’s what found about Harris Co. deputy killed on Grand Parkway

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office honored the life and career of Deputy Investigator John Coddou, who tragically passed away after being struck by a passing vehicle while assisting at a crash scene on the Grand Parkway.

At the time of his death, the 50-year-old Deputy Coddou was serving as a Crimes Against Persons Investigator in the Violent Crimes Unit within HCSO’s District 4 in west Harris County, as per the sheriff’s office.

Deputy Coddou began his tenure with the HCSO in 2003 as a detention officer before transitioning to the role of deputy in 2005, accumulating 20 years of dedicated service.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Coddou was recognized as a United States Army veteran by Protecting the Blue, a national nonprofit organization that honors officers. He is survived by his wife and mother, as confirmed by Protecting the Blue and the Houston-based 100 Club.

The 100 Club further pledged $20,000 to Deputy Coddou’s wife as part of its survivor’s fund.

As of the current update, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez or his office had not yet made extensive statements or posted on social media regarding Deputy Coddou’s immediate family.
