Houston woman faces 3rd DWI arrest after police allegedly found her passed out in car with infant

A Houston mother, Denisha Young, 33, is facing multiple charges after authorities discovered her unconscious in a running vehicle with her eight-month-old child, according to police reports.

Officers found Young slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle stopped in a lane of traffic on North Shepherd near Tidwell on Wednesday evening. The vehicle’s engine was running, and it was in drive, with Young’s foot reportedly on the brake. Her infant child was found in an unsecured car seat in the back of the vehicle.

Upon reviving Young, police allege she attempted to close the car door on them and drive away. Further investigation revealed an open warrant for robbery against Young.

She was subsequently arrested and charged with child endangerment and DWI, marking her third DWI arrest.

Dr. Glenn Wilkerson, a parenting expert with The ARKGroup, condemned Young’s actions, describing them as “horrible parenting.”

In court, Young’s attorney informed the hearing officer that she is a mother of four while seeking a lower bond.

Hearing officer Renette Franklin granted Young personal recognizance bonds for the child endangerment and DWI charges, indicating she would not need to pay anything to be released from jail.

However, a judge later increased both bonds, and Young remains in custody at the Harris County Jail.
