Man arrested after exchanging gunfire with security officer at Fort Worth club, police say

A 26-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he exchanged gunfire with a security officer at a Fort Worth club.

Police were called about 1:45 a.m. to the Electric Cowboy club at 8740 Camp Bowie West Boulevard, where a man had pulled a gun during an altercation and shot at a security guard, who returned fire. No one was struck by the gunfire, police said.

The man, identified in a police report as Neiman Battles, surrendered to officers when they arrived, police said.

He then became ill while in police custody and was taken to a hospital in serious condition, police said.

Police records show Battles is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with or fabricating evidence, unlawful carrying of a weapon, evading arrest and a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
