Woman texted man ‘your son is outside’ after leaving infant in front of SE Houston home: Docs

In southeast Houston, authorities are seeking Loretta Norwood after an infant was discovered outside a residence. According to police records, Norwood, believed to be the child’s mother, has been charged in connection with the incident.

Reports indicate that on March 22, Norwood allegedly left her son in a car seat outside a residence located in the 8400 block of Winthrop Lane. The infant was found by a resident of the home, who promptly notified law enforcement.

Charging documents reveal that Norwood sent a text message to a man, possibly the baby’s father, informing him of the child’s presence outside and instructing him to have his mother retrieve the infant. It remains uncertain whether the woman residing in the home where the baby was discovered was indeed the man’s mother.

Further investigation revealed that Norwood was out on bond for possession in Fort Bend County, as indicated by court records.

The baby boy, approximately nine months old, was discharged from the hospital last week and is currently under the care of foster services.
