Man charged with arson, deadly conduct following two Frisco fires

A man identified as Jonathan Webb, aged 29 and hailing from Austin, is accused of igniting a trash fire outside a residence in Frisco and is being investigated as a person of interest in connection with another significant fire nearby.

Webb faces charges of deadly conduct in relation to a fire reported around 10 p.m. in the 4600 block of Haverford Drive in Frisco. According to neighbors, the fire originated in a debris pile in an alley resulting from home renovation activities. The homeowner managed to contain the flames using fire extinguishers and a water hose until firefighters arrived, preventing further escalation of the situation.

Following the incident, Webb was apprehended while attempting to flee the scene, initially on a charge of public intoxication and for outstanding warrants from Dallas. The charge of deadly conduct was subsequently added.

Kelly Kistner, Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer for the Frisco Fire Department, stated that Webb matched the description of a person seen leaving the scene of another fire earlier that day around 4 p.m. in the 6300 block of Memorial Drive in Frisco. This fire affected a total of eight homes, causing varying degrees of damage.

Kistner explained that Webb was reported to have been wearing khaki-style pants, a red shirt, and a blue sweatshirt over it, based on descriptions provided by witnesses. Investigators are currently attempting to ascertain Webb’s motives for allegedly starting fires at two separate properties.

Despite being a temporary visitor to North Texas, Webb now faces arson charges, as indicated by late Tuesday jail records in Denton County. However, it remains unclear which specific fire the arson charge is linked to.

Investigators from Frisco and Lewisville Fire Departments, along with ATF personnel, are conducting thorough examinations of the fire sites, collecting samples to determine the cause of the fires and any potential criminal elements involved. Their focus is on identifying the source of the fires rather than solely proving arson.
