Teen dies after being struck by vehicle in Dallas County

On Monday evening, a tragic incident occurred in Dallas County as a teenager lost his life after being hit by a vehicle while walking along the shoulder of a freeway.

Deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office were called to a major accident at the intersection of the westbound US 175 CF Hawn Freeway service road and Beltline Road around 7:35 p.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival, authorities were informed that a teenager had been struck while walking on the roadway’s shoulder.

According to investigators, a Cadillac SUV traveling westbound on the US 175 CF Hawn Freeway service road encountered stopped traffic ahead. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the SUV driver swerved onto the right shoulder, inadvertently striking the teen.

Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac SUV stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement investigators.

As the investigation continues, further details surrounding the incident remain under examination.
