Officers find 10K of meth after pursuit through southeast Houston

Houston police officers found 10 kilos of meth and heroin after a lengthy high-speed pursuit through the city’s southeast side.

Officers attempted to stop a pickup truck in the 9700 block of Tavenor around 11:20 a.m. The truck driver sped away, leading officers on a pursuit that lasted more than 40 minutes.

The driver eventually stopped along South Loop 610 feeder road just east of Interstate 45. Police detained the male driver and a female passenger, both of whom had outstanding warrants, according to Houston Police Department spokesperson Kese Smith.

Smith said officers found 10 kilos of meth and heroin in the truck.

The identities of the suspects were not immediately released.
