Long lines after IRS tax center in southwest Houston abruptly closes

The IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in southwest Houston experienced unexpected closures during its scheduled walk-in service on Saturday, leaving hundreds of people waiting outside, hoping to get assistance with their taxes before Monday’s filing deadline. Despite their efforts, the center closed early, leaving frustrated individuals like Jessica Hall, who had traveled quite a distance to obtain past tax filings.

Hall expressed her disappointment, as she needed the documents for an upcoming appointment with a tax preparer. Some individuals had waited in line since the early hours of the morning, only to be turned away.

Disappointment and frustration were palpable among those who had traveled from locations like Conroe and Galveston, feeling that the IRS should have communicated the closure to avoid wasted time and effort.

As of now, the IRS has not provided any official statement regarding the situation.
